MEEKS IT HAPPEN
MEEKERS works at initiating one and all to the joys of dance-theater. The ‘educational’ part of our program is geared to enriching the experience of attending a performance. We supply lesson plans based on the show to schools in advance to their group visit to the theater, DVDs showing the company from another point of view, movement workshops, introductory talks, post-performance discussions, and visits to the studio to see the work process. Our accent is ‘education’ that has the spontaneous feel and spirit of performance. And then there are outreach projects that go beyond supporting our repertoire: MEEKERS’ annual ‘School Project’, in which local school children perform in their ‘own’ performance; MEEKERS@school, an intensive dance week organized at an elementary school in an outlying province of the country; and a variety of collaborations with our local conservatory, integrating and training a future generation of dance-theater teachers.
